Otto D. Handschuh
Untitled
Otto D. Handschuh is studying
properties of form and material by
constant repetition of a single
working step. This procedure is
also elucidated in his book. On 120 pages black circles are depicted in
the same pattern. Handschuh has
drawn over and over again the
same circles but instead of
monotony the spectator is
experiencing that repetition gives
rise to a certain richness and
diversity. The circles are enriching
every page in a way that different
facets of the working surface are
perceptible. By this means the
repetition of the same pattern leads
to differentiation, that gives every
single page an own.
